I had an ultrasound in April and it showed nothing. My doctor thinks its/hopes its endometriosis and has reffered me to someone. It has been over a month since then and I still havent gotten a call from them for an appointment. Im getting to the point where I just want to give up and live with all of this pain. But on the days that I can walk its horrible, especially when Im at work. I am lucky and have the summer off so I would really like to have it all figured out before I go back to work in Sept. I have an appointment for a PAP on Aug 6. Will that show anything that might help? In the past my white cells have been down but the last one she said Im alright now. Thank you for responding to this, it means a lot to me.
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
There is a possibility that you have polycystic disease of the ovary, which along with other hormonal changes can cause insulin resistance and weight gain. Cysts which have a pedicle can also cause torsion and pain. The other possibility is endometriosis.
There are many causes of left side abdominal pain, but these are not related to weight gain. Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle can all cause lower left abdomen pain. It could also be a periumbilical hernia that has got trapped resulting in small bowel obstruction or mesenteric ischemia. An ultrasound or CT scan of abdomen is definitely required. Aortic aneurysm too can present this way. If any of these are detected then you need to look for other causes of weight gain like over eating, lack of exercise, hypothyroid states, diabetes, adrenal gland dysfunction etc.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
