Thankyou peeps :) he's still not had a cigarette
and he's in his 3rd week ! The smell is going slightly and he seems to be getting better. I'll mention the water as he really doesn't drink a lot ! Thanks again for the advice x
If he won't go to the doctor, and you're not prepared to kidnap him and drag him there - you go to the doctor. His doctor will, presumably, have past records, and might be more able to come up with an answer. And, just because he's old, don't think you need to wear kid gloves. If it was your child, you wouldn't hesitate. In fact, he's probably secretly hoping someone will take the problem out of his hands, but he has to maintain a image of independence. I'm 61. This is how old people are. :)
That's terrific that he quit smoking. But sometimes, pungent body odor indicates a liver problem. It would be worth some simple blood tests to check liver function.
He's detoxing still. Depending on how much fluids/vitamins/exercise/sweating he does it could take a month to several more before that odor goes away. Congrats to him for quitting!
