Vaginal Ulcers (Not Herpes.)

During the beginning of July I traveled to Europe for 2 and a half weeks. Around July 15th, at night while still in Europe I began to experience flu like symptoms, but only at night. I thought I had sunstroke, but the fever for more intense and by Wednesday July 21st when I was back home I had a 102.5 Fever. I also began to feel itchy around my vaginal area. I then noticed some swelling, and by Thursday night I had about two raised bumps around my vagina and one cut inside my vagina.  At this exact same time I also got my period.  The first appointment I could make for my gyno was on Monday. He said that it did not look like a typical herpes outbreak and was not sure what it could have been. I had been to my regular doctor as soon as I got a fever and had been on antibiotics for 5 days already.  I was tested for everything under the sun and all the tests came back negative.  I have not had any problem like this since (although 3 weeks later I had a yeast infection. Not sure if the two are related.)   Has anyone ever had anything like this? The symptoms haven't been back for almost two months now, but it was a horrible experience and I have no Idea what could have caused it.

The bumps were VERY PAINFUL! they had sores on them as well. They lasted for a week but were not herpes (swab tests were done.) and I have had no repeat symptoms to date

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
What you have is probably an infected Bartholin cyst on each side. On each side of the vaginal opening there are Bartholin's glands which secrete fluid to lubricate the vagina. At times their openings become obstructed causing fluid to accumulate in the gland, resulting in relatively painless swelling called a Bartholin cyst.
You can soak in a tub filled with a few inches of warm water (sitz bath) several times a day for three or four days. This may rupture cyst and which will then drain on its own. If this does not help, then please consult your gynecologist for incision and drainage.
Take care!

I'm not sure about the bumps but the yeast infection was from the antibiotics. There's a normal balance of good bacteria in your body that destroy bad things that could harm you. Antibiotics kill all bacteria indiscriminately which includes the good, yeast eating bacteria in your vagina. It also means that the antibiotics worked.
Eating yogurt or taking probiotics is good for that.

And about the bumps, did it hurt? Did they go away?
