Undiagnosable mystery illness after sexual contact

Hi,

I can't believe I'm here posting this. 4 months ago I was a normal, extremely healthy, fit and happy 25 year old guy. Then one night, I brought a girl home with me and the condom broke. 2 weeks later I came down with the symptoms listed below. I have been tested again amd again for all the garden variety STIs, and have gotten negative results every time. I am not the only person complaining of this,  there are a few others out there. We NEED to find even more so we can start the ball rolling on getting this publicised and potentially getting some form of treatment, or even something to alleviate the symptoms. I have no desire to be here on MedHelp really, I'd much rather be out training on my bike, but since this began, I simply have not been able to. So please help if you can, even just by getting in touch.

The following symptoms can be attributed to this illness:

Early symptoms (usually begin within a couple of days of exposure):

- Issues with urination - inability to keep urine in
- Body rashes
- Night sweats
- Tongue problems: teeth marks around it, red dots, white tongue
- Stomach pains and acid reflux
- Tinnitus
- Skin in mouth wiping away and mouth sores
- Yellow and foamy urine
- Flank pain
- Burning groin/scrotum
- Severe anxiety and depression
- Suicidal thoughts
- Tenderness in groin area
- Swollen lymph nodes: groin and neck in particular
- Pain in penis/anal area
- Red and burning eyes
- Dry mouth and feelings of dehydration
- Skin tingling/crawling

Long lasting symptoms:

- Dark circles under eyes
- White tongue
- Mouth ulcers
- Joints that crack and click on every movement
- Muscle twitching (benign fasciculation syndrome)
- Stomach rumbling/growling
- Chest pains
- Frequent urination
- Peeling skin, particularly on hands and feet

Please note that this miserable disease is almost certainly the same as the mystery virus spreading through China at the moment. Google it and find out about it.

PLEASE post here or PM me if you have these symptoms or if you know someone with these symptoms who can't get a diagnosis and who has not been themselves recently. We NEED to start getting this taken seriously, because I, and the others who I have spoken to so far, want and need our lived back.

Hi,

Thanks for the comment. What I have to stress is that before the onset of my symptoms, I was the happiest I'd ever been, and I hadn't given any thought to the night with the girl. It was only when I started feeling terrible that it came back into my mind as the reason for this.

I'm not "anxious" as such, I suffered from that in the past and dealt with it, but this is not it at all. What I am "concerned" about is finding out what is causing this  and treating it.

Worriedchef,  it's hard to say what's going on here,  but in the spirit of exploring all issues I wonder if there was some exposure with "bringing a girl home" for sex and the condom broke.

I'm honestly not trying to be rude,  just trying to figure this out.

Could this be anxiety?  Have you, in the past,  brought girls home and had sexual exposure and there were no ill health effects?

The mind is a powerful thing,  and anxiety can cause incredible ill effects.

On the other hand,  obviously,  there are sometimes diseases and viruses that appear and need to be investigated.

Best wishes.

I'm not very sexually active, and when I am it's always protected. I'm not too worried because of this. And my main aggravating symptom is the urine leaking, even though it's just small amounts.

I'm actually in Med School myself, but obviously never studied or even heard of the Mystery Virus.

I did get diagnosed with oral thrush(yeast infection) couple months ago. Was given Nystatin for one week only, which may have helped a little, but not too much. I never made a follow-up appointment.

But with that said, I'm not very sexually active and when I am, it's always protected. I've only had a urinalysis done which came back fine aside from a small amount of bilirubin.

@goldie7: What was your exposure? Protected or unprotected sex?

@ekkiemom: Yes, I've been tested for mono and it came back negative. I was also given a course of Nystatin to take for my tongue...it had absolutely no effect so I don't believe the white tongue is related to yeast. And thanks, I also hope I/we find out what's going on.

Have u been tested for MONO, coated tongue sounds like a yeast infection of some kind. Have you been on a strong course of antibiotics at all?
Hope you find out what is wrong. best to u
Peace

Acid reflux
Tinnitus(few times a day now, but never used to)
Yellow and foamy urine
Intermittent flank pain
Moderate-severe anxiety
Groin/bladder tenderness
Swollen lymph nodes, especially in neck
Penis pain after ejaculation, rectal pain after excreting
Red, burning, itchy eyes(A few times throughout day, especially in morning)
Almost constant dry mouth/dehydrated feeling
