low lymph

went to er for a heart issue, was told all tests were good and sent home. I got my records and on the hematology part is says lymph 17.0 LOW in bold letters. It says the normal is 25.0-45.0. The doctor says my tests are all  normal, but why does that say its low and what does this mean?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A low WBC, especially lymphocyte,  goes more in favor of parasitic infections. Get stool tested. The other possibility is viral infection, allergy, lupus, hyperthyroid states, hypersplenism, and rheumatoid arthritis. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Ask the doctor to explain to you fully the test results.  Doctors seem to forget that we are lay-people and did not go to medical school.  Have him explain it in simple English.. Don't leave the office until you are satisfied that you have received and understand fully the test results..
