Unexplained Fainting.

So, I'm 16 years old and I faint. I usually get dizzy, my vission goes blurry then dark and I studder my words when the "attack" is happening, then I fall to the floor.. This happened once over the summer and it felt as if my head kept banging against the floor. I could see out of the top of my eyes as if i was looking up. Weird thing is, I felt as if i was  thinking but I couldn't move or talk or move my eyes.. The "attack" lasted about a minute and I could get up. When i experience the dizzines my pupils tend to get larger. To the point where it happend at school and I was taken to the sick room and they asked about drugs,  ( which I'm not on). I was told I am anemic, low iron. about a year ago. And thats the only thing that is wrong with me that they know about. I had  two E.C.G's and both were fine, same with the blood test. They put me on a heart monitor and that was also fine.  I was wondering what this may be, and should they be looking else where?

I forgot to mention that usually when I get the feeling of an attack I tell my parents and they tell me to eat something like a chocolate bar (even in the morning). This happened once in Zellers while Christmas shopping in the morning and I had to hold onto the shopping cart because my eyes were getting darker and they bought a chocolate bar to eat and told me to sit down and after about 5 minutes I was back to normal... Would this have anything to do with low sugar.. diabetes do you think? All four of my grandparents have/had it. my mom had it when she was pregnant with me, im not sure how, and my uncle has it. Would that cause me to faint?
Thanks for responding to my first post, I really appreciate it!

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!

Dizziness could be due to postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis. All these cause dizziness when you get up from lying down position. Cervical spondylitis and ear problems also cause dizziness on changing the position of the neck.

Other causes are anemia (in your case this is there), GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. Some types of seizures too behave in this way.

I think you should discuss this with your doctor. Get your blood pressure checked. Also you may need to get some tests done. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
