What the heck is it

My body feels like its over heatring at times. It also has burning feeling in different spots at different times. I;ve also had on both ankle and elbows spots that swell up, burn to the touch, hurt and turn red at times. My doctor doesn't know what it is or where to go.

HONESTLY IT SOUNDS LIKE GOUTY ARTHRITIS OR "GOUT" TO ME AS I HAVE SEEN SOME CASES IN MY NURSING CAREER.  MY EX FATHER IN LAW HAD IT ALSO AND HE HAD TO TAKE MED FOR IT AND STOP EATING RED MEATS, DRINKING ALL DRINKS THAT HAD A HIGH CONTENT OF URIC ACID AS IT IS EXACERBATED BY ELEVATED URIC ACID LEVELS-IDK I'M NO M.D. BUT I'VE SEEN THESE THINGS BEFORE-IT IS VERY TENDER/PAINFUL TO TOUCH WHEN IT'S NOT "DORMANT" AND IT SWELLS AND GETS HOT TO THE PERSON AS WELL AS TO TOUCH SOMETIMES AND IT DOES GET VERY RED.  ALSO CELLULITIS CAN DO THE SAME THING BUT GOUT GENERALLY SHOWS UP MORE IN THE "JOINT" REGIONS-HANDS/FEET/ANYWHERE THERE IS LUBRICATED JOINTS.  U NEED TO SEEK MED EXPERTISE AND THEY CAN RUN LABS THAT CAN MEASURE THE % OF URIC ACID IN YOUR BLOOD.  IF UR A BIG RED MEAT EATER AND DRINK ALOT OF BEVERAGES S/A MT. DEW W/ YELLOW OR RED DYES THEN THAT WOULD DEFINITELY BE MY FIRST GUT FEELING-GOOD LUCK W/ UR EXAM=)

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Generalized feeling of a burning sensation can be due to dry skin, hyperthyroid states, liver or gall bladder dysfunction, peripheral neuropathies or decreased sweating as in Sjogren’s syndrome. This would need a comprehensive investigation. Fibromyalgia is another possibility.
Joint swelling or swollen joints could be due to osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis if this has been going on for a long time. Joint which swell suddenly could be due to infection, bleeding, bursitis or effusion.
The first thing would be to get your thyroid and blood sugar tested and consult an orthopedic specialist.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
