Unusual Spotting

I am very concerned. On December 12 I thought I had gotten my period but to my suprise i spotted from that day until the 16th. When I mean spotting it was not enough to fill a pad and it was brown and very light. Then on December 29 I thought I got my period and to my suprise I only spotted for one day. Now it gets even worse. On Januery 6, 2010 I had a little blood and then it started to spot again and i have been spotting since that day, very light and brown not read. This has never happened to me before. I am not sure if maybe its because I have the flu and maybe my body is acting weird. I took a home pregnancy test twice and they were both negative. Can someone help me cause I am really worried and I have no insurance. Thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
First of all you must look back and see which of these dates coincide with your actual period dates. If you are on contraceptive pills or depot shots, then this could be a reason. If it is pills, you can stop and see. Other reasons could be hypothyroidism, cervical dysplasia, cervical polyps, cervicitis (infection/inflammation of cervix), vaginitis (infection/inflammation of vagina), cervical and uterine cancer, uterine fibroids, hormonal imbalance as in polycystic disease of the ovary, use of blood thinners, genital ulcers, STDs and stress.
I understand you do not have insurance, but this is not something you can diagnose on your own and treat. Except, maybe if it thrush. For this you can take OTC anti fungals. Please look at the options available to you and go for a gynecological checkup.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Do you know when your period was originally due to arrive? Also, how long/heavy/often does it come?
