Vitamin d treatment

How long does it take for relief? I have Ben having spasms every hour to two hours at night. I started taking a 12 week course of vitamin d. I have Dystonia which I take Baclofen for at night. I am hoping for some sleep soon.

I think you are right. Thank you for pointing out about spasms not being linked to vit d deficiency. I already take 2 baclofen. I have had some better sleep, but I still have spasms. I am on a twelve week course of vit d. I think I will let my doctor know at the half way point if I am still having spasms

Thank you for the reply. I am thinking the spasms might be due to the Dystonia and not the vit d. I have had some better sleep, but still get awakened by spasms.

Were you vitamin D deficient beforehand?  The info I found says muscle twitching and musculoskeletal pain were linked to deficiency, but not spasms.  I suspect it might be insufficient treatment of the dystonia.  You should talk to your doctor about it.  Maybe talk to someone in physical medicine and rehabilitation if you haven't already--they might know more about treating you.

Flexeril might help with the sleep, since it's a muscle relaxant and rather sedative.  Definitely talk to your doctor before trying that, though (especially since it's rather a guess on my part).

I have a vit d deficiency, but don't have spasms.  Is your baclofen an appropriate dose?  Is is pumped or oral? If oral, would another antispasmodic be worth trying?  Maybe zanaflex?  I hope you get relief soon!  Good luck.
