Weeping Edema all over body-no idea why???

I am 26 years old, 5'4", and 90pounds. I have suffered from Anorexia and Bulimia for the past 5 years. I recently have been experiencing severe weeping edema all over my body. My doctor has done blood tests showing everything is normal and a heart ultra sound also showing to be normal. No idea what is going on... any ideas?

Chrst, more than the heart is involved in weeping edema. Other organs are breaking down from your anorexia and bulimia problems. If it continues the heart will and already is showing stress even though the ultra sound showed nothing wrong. I will go into some detail to explain what is happening inside your body.

It is now 5 years down your path and your body has been trained to act in a certain way. Each time you go through an episode your body over-produces certain chemicals, digestive acids and enzymes, adrenaline and much more. Adrenaline  is produced in the adrenal glands and is a toxic poison that is not meant to remain in your system. Your body tries to get rid of it by elimination through your kidneys and if there is too much of it all the time, your body will actually make fat cells to store the access adrenaline hormones.

The pancreas is producing hormones and enzymes to digest food, but when you take measures, especially throwing up, you interrupt the process. The enzymes have lost their target. It also sent hormones to the liver and gallbladder to start their part of the digestion process but when they arrive they have no target.

If you are using laxatives you interrupt the digestive system in the guts, and all the juices involved are interrupted repeatedily until the lining of the gut will begin to lose it's ability to digest food properly.

If you are not eating or eating and then getting rid of it the end result is your body does not receive the nourishment it needs and begins to take it from other parts in your body.

Your body's natural rythmn is interrupted and begins to fail.

To know the exact reason on how fluid is remaining inside your body instead of returning to the blood vessels I do not know but  I am sure that it is because of what you are doing. Please understand, I am only replying to your question as you have asked it.

Our bodies are complicated machines and like mechanical machines, they need regular maintainence. Even with good care they can and do break down, without good care they will break down much sooner.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Whole body edema that is exuding fluids can be due to skin infection, anemia, low protein, or herpetic lesions. Abnormal liver or kidney function too could be a cause.
Disorders of the adrenal gland, polycystic ovary causing hormonal imbalance, diabetes etc should also be looked into.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP to run tests and examination to clinch a diagnosis.
Take care!

On this anorexia website,  edema is listed as a crisis symptom of terminal stage starvation.
