What is This?

For two weeks there has been a white coat on my tongue that will not go away, even when brushed off.  I took antibiotics a week and a half before the white coat appeared.   Will this go away without treatment or should i go to the doctor and get treated?  Any complications without treatment?

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!

Post antibiotic course, it is common to have candida fungal infection. This will require treatment. The coating can also be due to dehydration. You can read through this link for some home remedies: http://ezinearticles.com/?White-Coating-on-Tongue-and-Bad-Breath-(Halitosis)&id=924850

However please do consult your doctor regarding this as it is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining your tongue. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

sounds like a yeast infection from the antibiotics,,,this happens,,youll need to get treated for it though, even if it goes away (looks gone)..youll still have it,,,so you need treated.
