What is wrong with me???

I was tested (fasting blood) for thyroid, RI, fibromygalia, mono, diabetes, etc.  Possible Edema, cushings or thyroid, diabetes - please help me to talk to my DR - I don't know what all of this means as it looks to be in the normal ranges.  I had two tests for Thyroid (about 6 weeks apart).   I

don't know that if along with my symptoms, family history and these results if it is even worth talking to a doctor.  I was so fed up with my "Primary Care Manger" assigned by my insurance (he saw me for 5 minutes and said I was under stress and would be fine).  I paid to see another doctor and spent 40 minutes with her - She at least listened.

Family HX of heart disease, throid, depression, diabetes and cancer.  I am in my early 40's, quit smoking in March and gained 30 lbs in 6 weeks went to the doctor to make sure that my smoking wasn't masking something.

I still can't lose weight (despite regular exercise and good diet), suffer from fatigue, depression, severe constipation, no sense of taste, smell, loss of memory (fuzziness), concentration, headaches, insominia, muscle and joint aches, trouble speaking (stumble over words and forget what word to use)

I don't know if I even need to talk to the dr.

I am not on any prescription meds (recently stopped fluoxitene, felodipine and spirolactine about three weeks ago) and take a multi vitamin and B complex.

Hey there I would really suggest the board below:

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/SURVIVING-NEUROLOGICAL-LIMBO-LAND---NO-DX/show/553?camp=msc&personal_page_id=1642088

It sounds like some of your symptoms might be neurological too.  I have gotten great support on that board.

Have you seen a neurologist?

Wishing you well, don't give up and hope you find some answers.

From what I have read there is talk about lowering what is normal for TSH. It is currently .5 -5.0 and the new level is .5 - 3.0. My doctor goes by the new level. You need to ask when you are looking for a doctor what level the doctor goes by otherwise you will be wasting your time.
When you go see if they can evaluate your female hormones as well as your thyroid. The ovarian hormones can cause problems for the thyroid if they get out of balance.

RI is Rhematoid Arthritis.  Thanks for your answer - I am pretty fed up - I have felt horrible for the past three years and was to the point of losing my marriage, my job and everything just b/c of the way I felt!  I will keep you posted to what is going on.

Sounds to me that you have low thyroid. Your TSH in the second test is high normal and your Free t4 is low on the first test and low normal on the second. You need to see a specialist for your condition. Go to this web site  www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/ and see if you can find a doctor in your area. You could be at the beginning of hashimotos thyroid disease. Typically you run low t4 and t3 along with elevated TSH. My Endocrinologist checked my thyroid ( it was checked 4 times before this all stating I was normal) and found mild inflammation of the thyroid with normal blood levels. My TSH was on the higher end of normal and she said it may not be my normal. She started me on a low dose of armour thyroid meds and it helped my symptoms. Get evaluated by a specialist. Don't waste your time with a family practitioner.
By the way what is RI? Do you mean IR which is insulin resistance?
