What is wrong with my head/neck?

I am having pain in the back of my neck," about the middle",  it radiates up and over my right ear to the front of my forehead where I experience numbness and sensitivity.  I have been to the reg. MD, on anti-inflammatory meds, went through PT, had e-xays and MRI.  I have been to 2 neurosurgeons and one pain management DR.  I was diagnosed with joint inflamtion, nerve root obstruction on C6 exit, degeneration of disc, and C5-C6 protrusion into spinal column.  They suggest surgery, but with no guarantee.  I am going through epidural injection right now.  It has been 3 days and the pain is worse now than ever.  I really hope something gives soon.  They put me on Neurotin.  It helps a little.  The Lodine I was taking helped more but causes urinary problems for me.  I am a 63 year old very high strung male.  I just started experience severe panic attacks.  The pain sure hasn't helped with that. I take Ativan for that, it helps.  Zanax helped more and faster, but boy the withdrawals were a killer, had to get off that.  I have been down sick since October and this head/neck thing is just another bullet in the gun.  Has anyone else out there had anything like this?  Or maybe got any suggestions?  Thanks in advance

Sounds like your docs have tested you for everything.   Maybe the only thing that you did not rule out was TMJ syndrome. That causes head neck and jaw pain and is easily overlooked.  Have you been to the dentist lately?

You mentioned withdrawals. Maybe some of that also?

well, i can understand your pain because i had the same worse situation due to L5, S1 herniated, i have been told on the time of surgery that chances to survive was only one percent due to L sciatica nerve was totally compressed, but i went under surgery and after 4 hours of surgery the doctor made me to walk......i think there is no harm and no worries to go for surgery, Inshallah you will be alright...!!
