Who else to try

Im so mad.  Went to a orthopedic surgeon today to look at my neck.  Ask my symptoms, and then pushed on two spots in front of neck and two spots on back and ask if tender.  He asked about my brain mri and what it showed.  Just tiny scattered areas of white matter signals.  Anyways after he felt of me he said Im not the guy to help you.  He said i need to see a neuro because it sounds like something going on in the brain, blood flow or something.  Ultrasound of Carotid was normal.  Blood tests normal.  MRI neck normal except small herniated disc C4.  Vision test normal.  Ear tests normal except stapes spasms.  Im trying every thing to get my neck fixed, but it seems theres no one that wants to deal with it.  Im sick of going around and one hour my jaw neck and head feel like something is shut off to it feeling wise, pressure feeling, and a minute later I feel good.  I cant even get anyone to look at a very hard lump I feel about size of a marble that runs from back of head down left side of neck by the spine.  Ortho just said lymph nodes are there and its normal, but he never felt it.  Not like that on the other side.  Im so frustrated now, I dont know where else to go to??

Oh Josh - I know your frustration well. I wondered if an Ortho could help you - I don't know for sure if they are the same there, but here, they can only help if there is a specific thing that shows up on an MRI, that they can opperate on - if you don't fit into their model, they can't help. The lump you are talking about is likely to be a lymph node - I get them all the time and they do hurt - even saw one show up on my MRI - doc said it was normal, osteopath said they are due to poor fluid drainage as a result of mialignment at the base of the skull. What I'd like to know is, does neurontin help at all? do you get side effects?. I'm curious as you seem to have similar problems to me. I have a Neuro appointment on thursday when I will find out results of the latest MRI. He gave me Imitrex last time I saw him, and it helps, but I can only take 3 a week and I could do with it every day so I'm wondering about Neurontin. Do you get a burning stomach? - one of the problems caused by the vagus nerve which I remember came up on one of your other posts. I do believe Demiguise is on to it with her answers for both of us, I just wonder what we are supposed to do about it. Talk later.

Yea, Ive been to three neuro.  First said possibly MS.  Second said the white matter signals prob just tiny vessels thats burst or leak and are fairly normal as you age.  Third had me do a repeat MRI and said it was unchanged and could be causes by migraines or vascular disease.  Blood work all normal and he said he wouldnt think it would be anything vascular.  They all three gave me a prescript for nuerontin.  The ortho even gave me that too even though he didnt act like he wanted to see me again.  Could something be swelled for 6 months?  I sure would like to find out what the hard lump is.  Whether its a lymph node, or a trigger point.  I guess ill try to find another orthopedic then.

find another ortho doctor and get a second opion and maybe try a neuro doc to.  The white matters on the brain maybe need to be looked at closer.  Have you had a good blood workup.  Maybe  get your mri and take with you to the ortho when you go for second opion.  Your syptoms are alot like a pinched nerved in the cervical area even if the mri shows nothing there could be swelling putting pressure on a nerve.  Good luck.
