Hair feels sticky after washing?

I've had hair that was extra oily for the past two years now. One day I just noticed it was flatter and got oily way more easily. I kind of ignored it, didn't see a doctor about it. Now it's two years later and I'm noticing my hair feels sticky after showering. I know it isn't conditioner, because I make sure to rinse out my hair until it no longer feels sticky. I'm not sure how it would be conditioner. I guess it could be build up but I don't use anything besides my shampoo and conditioner which is currently Suave's.

I found a thread on here about it with tons of replies of people having the same issue and not knowing what it was. Someone else suggested a fungal infection. If that's possible, though, shouldn't I have other symptoms by now besides just oily hair? The sticky thing I noticed a few weeks/months ago. I'm not sure when exactly, and I don't know if it happens after every wash but from now on until I can see a doctor I will check.

I'm kind of hoping for a response from a doctor or dermatologist because the assumption would be a little more accurate...and on that note, would I be better off seeing a dermatologist about it?

Try stripping your hair of its oils by using dish soap and follow up with conditioner. If the problem continues go see a dermatologist he/she will be able to help you. Hope you get everything sorted out!

I can't afford to spend that much on something that may or may not work. Those are both two shampoos/soaps that are on the pricier side of things. I have a lot of hair and I go through it fast.

I would suggest you try Dr. Bronner's baby mild liquid soap followed by Bragg's apple cider vinegar (you can put it in a squeeze bottle and use full strength or dilute with water, perhaps distilled water) and squeeze it over your hair in the shower.  Try it bending over and try not to get it in your eyes as it stings, but squirt it all in your hair and then rinse it out.  The vinegar smell goes away.  Finish with a cool rinse.

You can alternate this treatment with Nizoral shampoo.

IF you do the first treatment a couple of times and your hair is too soft, you can mix in a regular shampoo like Neutrogena or even Prell.  I find that Suave is not a good long-term shampoo.
