Blood pressure issues or adrenal/thyroid/pituitary/parathyroids.  They assist in how much cortisol and other hormones are released which is also responsible for your adrenaline response.  Sounded like adrenaline, but it could also be circulatory with your heart if you have a "heart flutter" it gives you a similar rush.  It feels good and scares you at the same time.  Probably ought to see a physician asap.  The fact that it rang your head so hard is odd and doesn't sound good, especially if you passed out.
