bruise on my back for 7 years

okay so I have a bruise on my back that I first noticed when I was 15 or 16 and I have also had back pain off and on since I was about 17 or 18 I am 23 now, well my bruise grows, then shrinks , darkens and fades , sometimes there is pain in it sometimes pressure and other times I wouldn't even know it was there unless I looked at it. it is baffling and scary at the same time. Now when I was 15 or 16 I did have a blunt trauma to my back not to long before I first noticed the bruise , which may or may not have anything to do with it . the bruise is on my right side of my back over my rib cage and sort of down the right side sometimes all the way to my lower back and always a spot right across the middle of my back over my spine . anyways any input would be greatly appreciated as my doctor is pretty baffled by this as well , as of right now I am waiting for my blood work results to come back , then I might ask for some x rays or something

I had a bruise like mark for decades on my shoulder blade. Turns out it is acanthosis nigricans due to insulin resistance.

Hemosiderin staining comes to mind with permanent bruising. I found an article "Why Do I Have Dark Circles Under My Eyes a Month After Rhinoplasty" by Dr Kolstad talking about this condition...

"There is a genetic predisposition for permanent bruising typically found in Mediterranean ethnicities: Italians, Greeks, Spanish, Moroccans, ect.  Instead of the bruise being resorbed back into the body, iron deposits are left behind in the skin.  These hemosiderin deposits stain the skin brown and are permanent.

The good news is that like many pigmented lesions or sun spots, hemosiderin deposits have treatments.  Six weeks of topical hydroquinone 4% followed by a Glycolic or TCA peel will typically remove even dark hemosiderin skin stains and have the skin looking refreshed and as good as new."

It is highly atypical to have a bruise lasting for that period of time.  Are you sure it's even a bruise?  To me, it sounds like something quite different than ecchymosis (bruising).  How many times have you seen your MD for this?  Given that you have pain/pressure in that area I think an x-ray would have accompanied the order for blood work.  Is there any chance that you are a mulatto?  People who are mulatto have a spot that can appear to be as a bruise to some eyes, but it is a normal appearing discoloration for folks who are of mixed race (typically is seen in Caucasian and Black mixture people)!  I would definitely seek another MD opinion since your MD only chose to do blood work instead of an x-ray or CT in addition to the labs.
