can anyone help me please?!

hi :)

basically i went to the doctors 3 days ago, after suffering with what i think was a water infection for about 2 weeks. i was in alot of pain, and constantly needed to wee.

i drank lots of water and avoided wearing tight jeans for a while and it seemed to get better, although i was still sore down there.

when i went to the doctors i did a urine test, they said i had a water infection and to take antibiotics, 2 a day, for 3 days. today i had my last pill. it does not sting when i pee anymore, however im very itchy, and am worried that without the tablets tommorow the infection will come back.

can anyone confirm that this is just a water infection?
and can anyone give me tips on how to stop the itch or discomfort?

xxx

I'm not a doctor but it sounds to me like you got a yeast infection from the antibiotics for the urinary tract infection. A lot of doctors recommend eating yogurt while on antibiotics so  you don't get yeast infections. You might want to try eating it now perhaps it will help. If you do you need to make sure it's yogurt with live bacteria. Hope this helps!

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum.
Your symptoms could be due to UTI, or urinary tract infection. The infection could be at any level from bladder to ureter to kidney. It could also be due to a stone in the urinary tract. A sonography can rule out stone. You also need is a urine culture and sensitivity test done. This will tell you what organism is causing the infection and what antibiotic will kill it permanently. Please do not take any antibiotic without this test because if the organism is not sensitive to the antibiotic, it will only sit quietly for some time and then flare up again.
Itch can be there both in UTI and yeast infection. It could also be due to a STD.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please consult your gynecologist too once. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
