coating on human tongue

What would cause a white coating on a human tongue accompanied by a brownish spot in the back center of the tongue with several "bumps" toward the back of the tongue. Teeth were cleaned at a dentists office March 20,2008. None of this was present at the time.
A crown has been temporarily glued on over a cavity. Crown needs replacing and of course, the cavity corrected before a new crown is put in place

Could be yeast but the brown spot is not associated with yeast there is a condition called black hairy tongue that can cause a brown or black spot on the tongue also what most people think is thrush is usually just bacterial coated tongue (quite common) only your DR or dentist can DX thrush. Either way I would follow up with a DR. Thrush is not normal unless you have a compromised immune system ie HIV infection, Diabetes, or heavy antibiotic use

Sounds like oral thrush. Eat some yogurt with active cultures and see if it goes away. If not call the dentist and tell them what happened. Thrush is caused by yeast. Yogurt helps with that. Had you been on antibiotics recently? Sometimes they can cause thrush. Good luck!
