I have had a pain in my left ear for several months accompanied by a ringing sound. I also have a swollen lymph node in my left neck. Two separate doctors treated me as if were an ear infection. It persisted and I saw an ENT. My hearing test showed asymmetrical hearing loss in the left ear. He ordered an MRI, CT scan, and bloodwork. Today, after all the results, he informed me there is no diagnosis.
He stated the MRI results (Mild bilateral periatrial white matter foci of abnormal T2 FLAIR) are not indicating anything but that I could follow up with a neurologist to be sure. The CT scan showed an enlarged lyphnode on my left side but they did not recommend any further testing of it stating it does not meet the 'criteria for significant adenopathy'. My blood work was all negative except for my Bun/Creatinine ratio which he said was probably due to dehydration an I tested "present abnormal" under the Lyme tests for IgG p41 however he did not note that to me in person I just see that now looking at my results.
The constant pain is bothersome and I want an opinion as to best next steps to deduce what could be wrong. I've already lost out on several half days of work to get the tests done and don't want to go any unnecessary visits but do still want to do a thorough job of discovering what is causing my discomfort.
I also have constant fatigue. May or may not be related to anything. Maybe I'm just tired :(
