Please help me!!

I ran a 3 mile mud course race on a cold September day I was feeling great and in great condition. Immediately after the race my lips and nails turned blue and my symptoms continued to get worse. I do not know if my symptoms for the last four months have anything to do with the race.  However, everyday after that I felt more and more nauseous, extreme brain fog, my back starts getting a tight feeling, I feel like I am unable to take a full breath as my chest feels like it is being squeezed, my nails turn blue and I feel uncomfortable in my own skin. I lost 15 pounds in the first 3 weeks and have not gained the weight back and I have not been able to exercise since (I was exercising 3 to 4 times a week before the race). I don't have diarrhea or constipation but my bowels seem lazy. I have loose stool but its hard to go. I've been tested for EVERYTHING.  Went to a GI and told me it was IBS over the phone after his colleague told me in the office the day before he didn't think it was GI related.  The Neurologist told me they did not think it was related and I have been seeing a Rheumatologist for the past month who has also run all blood work, X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI and they still do not have any answers.  Overall, the brain fog, tight chest and breathing, exhaustion and GI discomfort are consistent and severe.  Do you have any suggestions or ideas?

I know this may sound weird but I wonder if it can be heart related. There was just a show on the doctors show on TV about a newscaster who was preparaing for a marathon and did a 6 mile run and had a heart attack. Now I don't think you had a heart attack but you could have some arrhythmia or a mitral value problem or something that came out that you didn't know you had. To err on the side of caution, since your nails and lips turned blue, why don't you add to your testing a EKG, and even if it is negative get a Eckocardiogram for structural problems (check your heart beat is it skipping?) and also a 24 hour monitor. I had all these done too as I developed an arrhytmia when I got into my 40's that I didn't know I had. Most are benign a few are not. Just a thought.  Lack of oxygen to the brain if there is a heart problem can cause brain fog, and nausea too and the chest being squeezed. Please let me know how it went. You can message me if you like as well.I'm surprised the docs don't look at women like this. My doc sure did.

This is almost a stab in the dark.  Sounds like you were healthy until this long episode of pain and abdominal discomfort. You are right looking for more help! Have you searced the Web for symptoms like yours? The change in your nail color leads me to think a different system of your body may be causing you some of your problem. Add the Interference with breathing and your fullness in your chest and I would consider circulatory changes. Sounds like GI still may be the cause for fullness in your upper abdomen. Keeping your doctor informed is real important.

You have had many tests apparently so keep copies of the same in case you need to go to other specialits. Hope you are well enough to discuss your findings with your primary doctor. Maybe you will find additional evidence to support IBS and you will feel more comfortable with the possible diagnosis of IBS. Or you will come up with more evidence to consider. At any rate keep going in the direction of being pro-active. If the treatment is not working call your doctor back. Also you can ask the experts on here. One last idea: Sometimes loose stool slips around a fecal
blockage that is hard or non formed and will not pass. In this case an fleets oil enema might help. It is a simple fix for a distressing condition. You should approach you doctor about this if it is a possible problem for you.
Best wishes for a healthier New Year.
