extreme pain in vein in the left side of neck

Hi there. Im having an intense pain in what feels like the vein running through the left side of my neck. It doesn't matter weather I touch it directly under my jaw, or below my Adams apple close to my collar bone, it's still throbbing and has a stabbing like pain. I haven't strained my neck  in any way and this has been happening for at least 4 days now and progressively getting worse. Should I be worried?

You should see a doctor immediately.  Have an ultrasound to make sure its not a clog.

I concur in the advice to see a physician immediately. As mentioned your symptoms are a hallmark of a carotid artery blockage or a developing aneurysm. There is mortality associated with both these conditions is not promptly addressed.

Hi.

I'm so sorry that you're having this worrisome pain.

You should see a dr. Immediately.  This could be a sign that your left carotid artery has a blockage.

It could also be a pulled muscle, pinched nerve, really there's nothing I can do but guess it could be so many different causes for that symptom.

Do see a doc though just in case it's serious.

I hope it's not and that all goes well.

Blessings,

  Melinda
