confused

Hi,I had a breast reduction done 18 months ago and for the past 9 months my right side under my arm(from my right breast and rib cage)it's swollen. Does anyone know if it could be from my surgery? It's been painful as well. I do remember him sticking a needle to drain the fluid and it's in the same spot..could that be the cause? It hurt so bad when he did that. I had it done in Feb of '08 and I noticed the swelling in November of that year. Any info is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi,thank you so much for responding. I had an ANA Screen test done and my results are positive. They said I have some form of arthritis and I have an appointment this thursday to see a Rheumatologist. I had a bone scan done this year as well and that they found arthritis in my joints, but my doctor wasn't to concerned then. I will write more after my app with her. Thank you again!

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
The swelling could be due to lymphagitis due to some lingering infection following breast reduction. However the swelling started almost 8 months later. It could be fluid accumulation in the empty fat pockets that further seeped down. Please consult your surgeon again. It is really difficult to comment without examining. However since you have pain, there is some inflammation. Please do not ignore.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
