MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You are probably suffering from migraine. Lights are the trigger and hence shutting out light and sleeping helps. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. There are various medication available to treat this. Also get your blood pressure checked.
Take care!

You still need to seek a medical provider but in the mean time. Water is a good way to keep hydrated and stay away from cigarettes and cigarette smoke. Also wearing sunglasses in highly lit areas will help prevent many of those headaches. I am a nurse and also suffer from horrible headaches and light sensitivity. I do all those things which above I mentioned and it's cut my headaches in 1/2.

I used to suffer from excruciating migraines and have learnt 2 tricks which have solved the problem - one is to make sure that you are not dehydrated - drink plenty of clear water - 6-8 glasses per day, especially in really hot weather.   Secondly add omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids to your diet (salmon, mackeral, sardines, etc) and supplement good quality Omega 3 - flaxseed oil is omega 3 but not in a form that is immediately available and so has to be converted by the human body - if you can get uncontaminated salmon Omega 3 it is a better bet.
