help for my daughter

Last night my 33 year old daughter was playing volleyball, she remembers being in the front row, then the next thing she New she was in the back row and didn't remember how she got there. She said on her drive home she was pretty sure she ran a red light. She saw the red, stopped then continued on as if it was green. She also said she thought she saw a chair in her front yard, but there wasn't one, and also almost hit a curb going really slow. She went to the Dr. He did blood test which came back normal. At first he thought it was STRESS but after she mentioned the chair he reconsidered and is going to have her see a neurologist. She was recently in Mexico and has been sick twice since she's been home. She says the lumps in the back of her head are swollen and makes it hard to get her head comfy. What could this be? IT IS NOT STRESS!!!

Your daughter had been playing volleyball and remembers being in the front row, and then she can't remember how she got to the back row.  Also she experienced problems whilst driving back home on her own.
It may be a good idea to contact the volleyball coach or people that she was with at the time to find out what happened at the volleyball game and whether your daughter collapsed and hit her head.  The lumps at the back of her head may be due to her hitting her head. Hitting her head could have caused concussion.

The sickness may or may not be connected to her visit to Mexico and may also have nothing to do with this incident.

With regard to the blood test coming back normal, it all depends on what the blood was being tested for.  I presume that your daughter did make the doctor aware of the lumps at the back of her head?

If your daughter has any other lumps anywhere else on her body that may be swollen lymph nodes, ask the doctor to check for non Hodgkins Lymphoma.

I would also not rule out parasites, should everything come back fine.  You can get these from eating or drinking anything that may be contaminated, or even swimming outdoors.

Should your daughter come down with a raised temperature and a rash that does not fade when a glass is rolled over it, then that could indicate meningitis.

No doubt, should your daughter's condition get worse or she gets more confused or disorientated, you would seek immediate urgent medical attention.

Keep her warm and give her plenty of warm drinks so that she does not become dehydrated.  She may be off her food, but it is important to have the drinks even soup.

I would also advise that your daughter does not drive her car until she gets the all clear from the neurologist or until the lumps at the back of her head have gone and she is recovered.

Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Best wishes.

I wrote again because I am worried your daughter might have meningitis. She has 2 of 3 symptoms. Headache, neck pain due to swollen lymph nodes and fever and are the signs of it. I really think she needs to go into the ER. But take her temperature and see how high it is. You can get viral meningitis as well as bacterial and fungal.  It could be her fever went down too.
take care and let me know how she does.

Does she have a fever? I worry that she got meningitis? Also, its possible she got a parasite. How long since she was in Mexico? Do you know if she ate any pickled pigs feet or anything raw? Firstly, have you checked her temperature?  It is good she is going to a neurologist due to her symptoms. Stress is ridiculous it doesn't cause hallucinations and swollen lymph nodes! Unbelievable. I think a CT or MRI of the brain/neck would be a good thing to make sure there was no head trauma as well. You haven't taken her to the ER yet right? They could get the scans done quickly. When does she see the neurologist? If her Complete blood count was normal she may not have meningitis because the white blood cells would be high. Do any of her friends remember her getting hit in the head or falling and hitting her head. The lymph nodes make me think of infection though. I would still be thinking of some type of infectious disease or parasite. She need more testing. Are there any other symptoms, sore throat, nausea, or anything you can find out?
