irregular periods

im 23 almost 24 and my periods are very irregular. all up since my first period (at age 15) i have had about 25 periods (at the most) and at least 6 of them were by being on the pill to have regular periods. Everytime i go to my doctor he says it is normal. I dont think it is normal. I REALLY want to be able to have kids but i am worried i will not be able to. I dont want to have to take the pill because that will make it hard to conceive aswell plus i didnt want to have to be on the pill just to get periods.
Are there any natural ways i can help myself get a regular period?

Hi Accept!  Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You must have read my answer to Rosie. Please get an ultrasound of abdomen to rule out PCOS as this is the most likely diagnosis in your case. Unaccustomed exercise, weight gain or loss too can be the cause. If you are on birth control pills then that too could be a cause. Hope this helps. Take care!

Hi
thanx for the welcome.

I did all of a sudden put on weight...and slowly been increasing for about 5 years. But everytime i go to my doctor about it he says its normal and just puts me back on the pill!  but when i have had only 25 periods in a 8-9 years period and 6 of them were due to the pill....something is definitly wrong...right? its not just my imagination?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Menstrual cycle can delay by 7-10 days once in a while for no reason. Stress whether emotional or physical can delay the period. Hypothyroidism, contraceptive pills and polycystic disease of the ovary can cause delayed or missed periods. Pituitary tumors secreting prolactin can also cause such problems. Anemia and poor diet are other reasons for delayed or missed periods. Unexplained or sudden weight gain or weight loss are the other factors to be looked into.
To regularize your periods you will need to find the cause. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
