Im glad she saw a physician and that they are going to try to get to the bottom of this. I wish her the best of luck. Keeping her in my prayers!
My nan went to the doctors on tuesday, they have arranged for her to have a camera exam to whats going on, they told her to contact them again if she gets worse whilst waiting for an appointment, i dont think their really getting how serious the situation is; however her Doctor did say that this had been going on far too long. Hopefully they will be able to help her.
Thank you for your coments - i used this site as a guide for advice and to seek others opinions that there was seriously something not right with my nan, her doctors surgery has 3x doctors and you dont always see the same one, she has now seen the best there and hopefully this situation will be resolved.
You should take her to a doctor. Since she is 80, there could be a number of things causing these symptoms. I dont think that it is just GERD like in the other posts. I think she needs to be thoroughly checked by a physician, including blood work. She might need to be referred to a GI doctor. Hope this helps. Please seek medical attention, and real medical attention, not just a doctor on a website who is guessing as to what it could be. God bless.
Thank you for replying to me, i have looked up GERD and her symptoms match completely, she has been to the doctor previously latest about 3 weeks ago and her doctor was not very helpful, he did give her Omeprazole however this causes diarrhoea. She has an appointment with a different doctor on Tuesday, i will keep you updated.
Thanks again for your help!
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Your Nan probably has severe acidity causing stricture of esophagus or dysphagia or difficulty swallowing due to some cause or severe GERD. It is difficult to diagnose on net. You can give her Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and antacid gels after meals and see if it helps. Otherwise you will have to consult your PCP immediately. In fact please take her to a doctor immediately.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
