leg pain, electricity

adv
I have been having for about 1 year now an electricity shock type (cannot explain it any other way) on the front of my lower leg (more upper then lower leg) that shoots and will make me twitch. It will come and go. At times it mover to my lower knee (front) and that is more like a dull pain that too comes and goes and is not at the same time as the other pain. At times when the shooting pain has occured I have felled weak at my knee (like it wants to give out). I have Leiden Factor- but have never had symptom exept high 400 platlets (that is why they tested me). Recenly I have also had unexplained issues with my hip where I feel paralyzed suddenly for a couple of minutes and then it is fine and have an episode a couple of times (sometimes worse or more frequent). for several days. It usually occurs about 1 x a mo and therefore the DR ordered a sonogram but found nothing. Not sure if the 2 are related or not. I have not documented the pain in the leg to see if it has any signaficance to the other pain. Oh yes if it is important. I suffer of migraine and I am allergic to Asperin.
Any ideas let me know. At times I get scared that maybe all of these little changes or episode might be signs for something more serious that we are missing.

Hi! Thank you for your feedback. I have had sciatica pain in the past and know it too well. This pain is in the front part of the leg. It comes and goes and it is a shooting pain on the very superficial part of my leg. I go period without having it and then it will start again. I have had it happen on my ankle as well. It is like an electric current and does not last long. Something I can live with but concerned it might the beginning of something serious.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of sciatica. Sciatica is a set of symptoms including pain that may be caused by general compression of the sciatic nerve. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, and/or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes severe and shooting, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg. Typically, the symptoms are only felt on one side of the body.

Diagnosis can be confirmed by MR neurography.

You can take OTC pain killers like brufen,do some stretching exercises and yoga and maintain a correct upright posture while sitting.

Severe cases may require surgery.Pls consult a neurologist and check out the possibility of sciatica.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
