Shooting pain in right side of back around kidney area

I've been under a crazy amount of stress over the past couple of months and i have been under an even larger amount of stress over the past few weeks. i noticed that when more stress started coming along about 3 or 4 weeks ago, that i started to get a sharp pain in my back. now i can be doing anything, doesn't matter what and i get shooting pains that start on the right side of my back around the kidney area and the pain shoots up to my right shoulder. the pain doesn't last long, but it is enough to make me twinge with pain and sometimes it happens multiple times in a row and it hurts to even move. it does not hurt when i urinate though. what could the problem be?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
In all probability it is a nerve compression either due to wrong sitting posture of due to a spinal problem. Please consult a neurologist to run nerve conduction tests and may be a MRI may be needed.
Meanwhile please be careful of posture, consult a chiropractor and learn some exercises to relieve stress at the back and maybe wear a lumbar belt. Avoid strenuous exercises, and bending too much.
Other reasons could be a muscle or soft tissue injury, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!

I have not been to the doctor yet. i tend to let stuff like that go cause i usually just figure that its just random pains, since i do get those sometimes. but i noticed that its been recurring, so i figured that i would get an opinion first. thank you very much. i will get it checked out asap
