messed up my hand, but i have a high pain tolerance and it's hard for me to tell how bad it really is.

Well, I've been under a whole lot of stress lately and a couple weeks ago I was upset, angry, frustrated, and aggravated and made a stupid decision to punch a brick wall. I punched it as hard as i possibly could and even threw in my bodyweight. I also train in the martial arts, so my hand is kind of a big issue. It's very swollen from the middle knuckle to the pinkly knuckle and I caught the wall with mainly my ring finger. The bottom part of my ring finger is also very swollen. As long as i keep my fingers straight or very slightly bent it doesn't hurt. But, when I try to make a fist, without closing my hand very much I start to feel a tugging sensation from my ring finger's knuckle down to my wrist. I also cannot make a completely closed fist. I can come kind of close, but not without the tugging sensation and a sever amount of pain. also, if I bend my wrist upward it makes is hurt worse. Another thing is if my put my hand flat down on a table or the ground, I experience a severe amount of pain if i put any kind of weight or pressure on it as if to get up. What do you think i could have done? and should i see a doctor or is it too late? the symptoms haven't changes at all in 2 weeks and I've also still been training in karate, just not using that specific hand.

This discussion is related to possible broken knuckle.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You could have either caused tendon injuries or fractures by the strong force you applied. Please consult a doctor immediately and get an X-ray done. Apply ice pack and take an anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling. Please do not delay treatment as it can later cause long lasting side effects.
Hope this helps. Take care!

alright. i will. thank you very much. i appreciate it. another thing that i actually noticed today is that if i push down in the middle of my hand where my hand is bruising down to my wrist there is a fairly deep indentation, i'm sure it probably looks deeper than it really is due to the swelling, but it does definately go deeper than it should. and due to the swelling, it will actually show and stay indented for quite a while.

This sounds like a possible fracture or hairline fracture I would advise getting an xray to make sure.

there is also some bruising. mainly directly on the three knuckles, but the bruising starts to go down the hand and to the wrist from the ring finger.
