mid back pain

For the past 3 weeks I have had right side mid back pain that started in just one spot like a dull knife, I was at work at the time when it happened as a hair stylist. Gallbladder and kidney has been ruled out. Had x-ray on lungs as well nothing there. The pain in that part of mid back has become so severe that for the past week I have been unable to work.  The strange part to all this is that it only gets severe when im in motion and seems to only get to a high level of pain when my arms are involved.  The pain also radiates around rib cage. I can't understand how I can be in zero pain to a 10. It just doesn't add up to me.

I am feeling better after taking a week off work although this is the second episode. This time is was worse although I still feel something there. I talked to a physical therapist and he said it has to be mechanical, his thought was my symptoms resembles a rib slipping. Im a hairstylist so my hand are held higher than my head and also i think bending over shampoo bowl has something to do with it.  Are u better have u went to doc and got tests ran?
can I ask your age and occupation. I wonder if there is a connection. I am a 44 yr old female and been doing the same type of work for 28 years.  Google slipped rib, my symptoms match however it does not hurt to touch and at times i do feel slight throb inside from time to time.let me know how u are

I ruptured my spleen. The doctors sent me home from the er 3 times. I had a balloon tear and I only felt pain when I moved my arms up. I finally had an er tech watch me and he figured out what was wrong. I had an emergency splenectomy and stayed in the hospital for 15 days. I don't know if that is what you have, but it is worth checking out. Good Luck.

How about the liver or pancreas? Did they check the biliary tree for any gallstones that might be lodged in it?  Perhaps your next step is an abdominal CT and blood tests to look for infection.  If it hurts too much to work, you should go back to the doctor as soon as you can.  You don't want to risk it progressing to an emergency.  If the pain does get really bad, go to the ER.  Don't downplay the pain or be stoic...tell them in detail how it hurts.
