moms scary symptoms

ok my mom is 63,blind from methol alchohl poisoning and has bazil ganglia rigidity(parkinsons-like) and she is on baclofen, lisinipril, amlodipine, sinemet, and metoprolol succ and she was on zocor. she went into the hospital on dec.29th with stiffness and unable to move. she had a hedache and her head was spinning. the hospital said it was a med reaction and that her UTI was causing her medicines not to work. they treated the UTI and after five days sent her home. apparently since christmas day she has been having hallucinations and stuff. i did not know this. i went over her house four days ago and she was not right. she was crying uncontolably and kept saying im sorry over and over again. it was unlike her to do this. then i called the ambulance and went to buffalo general hospital. my older sister told the doctors that she wanted them to rule out any physical reasons for her change in personality. they gave her a cat scan blood and urine tests and came to the conclusion that she was allergic to the zocor. the doctor took her off it and put her on a muscle relaxer called robaxin. she went home. the next day we went out for my birthday and she was the same way. we went back to the hospital and she was admitted to the psych floor. my question is what could cause her to develoup hallucinations all of a sudden? she said she felt things crawling on her was hearing and seeing things and she said its like she is two differant people. im really worried. are the doctors right? i mean she looked better when i saw her yesterdaybut she does have these spells of "crazyness". wats wrong?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
I can understand your concern for your mother. Hallucinations can occur due to various reasons. Zocor normally does not cause hallucinations. Prolonged stress of any kind (your mother must be in because of so many problems), sleep deprivation (again a possibility with her), brain damage (due to methyl alcohol poisoning) are the other contributing features in your mother’s case. She needs a psychiatric evaluation along with these causes being ruled out. Discuss with her doctors whether sleep therapy and attempt at distressing her will help.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
