swollen left thyroid, pelvic tenderness, leukocytes in urine

I am a 36 year old female who has never had any health issues. This pass week I went for a physical as a requirement for Nursing school and doctor found leuocytes(white blood cells) in my urine, and swollen left tyroid, and when applied pressure on my lower abdomen in the pelvic area it felt tender. Now I am just starting my menses so not sure if that is the cause of the tenderness, but in any event she ordered a sonogram for my thyroid and lower abdomen, and also order blood work for lupus and other thyroid conditions, as well as a urine culture to test for UTI - urinary tract infection.
Now I am  worried,  since I have been researching on line all of these symptoms. The worry comes when the thyroid is swollen in combination of the pelvic tenderness. I am not sure if that means something more serious other than a urinary tract infection. ( which I have really not noticed any symptoms of a typical UTI)

So now I am concerned of something to do with an AutoImmune disease or God forbid something more serious such as Cancer.
Would love to hear from others who have has similar symptoms and signs and what were the causes.

It is great to get feedback it does helps me to stay calm and take things slow.
I agree it is a positive thing to find out sooner than later- I am trying not to worry about anything I am not sure of just yet.

I will defintely post the results if anything is found. When asking my mom about any family history today, to my surprise there is history of Lupus in our family. I guess just something to be aware of as well.

Thank you again for the responses!

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
I would say you look at it positively. At least something was caught in time when you were not symptomatic. The thyroid problem and pelvic tenderness may or may not be related. It could be autoimmune or just an isolated thyroid problem. Also many a times UTIs remain asymptomatic. Lets wait for your sonogram and blood work results.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Thanks for the info,

I did see that as one of possible causes when I researched my symptoms. I go for the sonogram and blood work today and will update on the results.

Go figure- now all of a sudden I am noticing all these symptoms of fatigue and weakness that I seemed not to have before I became aware of this...
