Thanks for your comment. The nodes are not swollen to the point where you can see them or even feel them, but they hurt so much, like a burning pain. My ENT put me on cefdinir 300mg a day, and my primary did a CBC.
I have been test for Rheumatiod Arthritis and nothng came up. Should i seek a biopsy? I am very concerned and dont know what to do. Will the CBC tell me if i have any of the dieses that you stated or if it is just a viral infection?
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If it is a generalized lymph node problem all over the body then dermatitis or some other skin problem or worms in stool could be the reason.
Swollen lymph nodes across multiple areas or generalized lymphadenopathy can be due to viral infections such as mono or EBV or cytomegalovirus or due to bacterial infections like TB. HIV or AIDS, leukemia, lymphomas and other cancers can also be a cause. This could also be due to inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. It is difficult to determine the cause on net. This is not something you should ignore. Please consult your doctor or seek another opinion. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Painful and swollen lymphnodes can be due a lot causes like serious viral or bacterial infections such as leprosy ,TB,Lymphoma Hodgkins and non Hodgkins,Cat scratch disease, parasitic infections like filariasis, sarcoidiosis,,medications like Antibiotics,Hyperthyroidism and cancers. But if some of the diseases are to be ruled out then some other associated symptoms are to be observed like high fever, difficulty in swallowing, night sweats, urinary problems, loss of weight, anorexia, itching.A detailed general and physical examination by an experienced family physician must be done including all the basic laboratory tests like Chest Xray,Blood count, biopsy of lymph node if needed.
Give me more details and Ill let you know what are other possibilities.Meet any family physician and he will give an advice as required.
