strained muscle

Is it possible to have a strained muscle that can last for approximately 2 months or more?.  It's my right arm above the elbow.  Midway between elbow and shoulder.  It hurts when I raise my arm, reach out to my side, or try to reach behind my back.  It's been close to 2 months now, I think I might have pulled the muscle but not sure.  I'm a senior so realize healing might take longer but is this the norm?  I am otherwise very healthy and active.

HELLO there Bubbie...as no stranger to pain myself, 24/7 due to an auto accident, that broke my spine, neck, chin, arms, legs etc..i was lucky to have survived the accident, but was left with PAIN ALL THE TIME...

i feel you should go and check this out...after 2 weeks, if a pain has not sub-sided or lessen, one must
go to the DR,..usually bed-rest, some aspirin, or Ibufren, for muscle pain and inflammation should relieve you of any pain, due to injury, or strain....but yours is taking too long, and age has nothing to do with it....some people, just get well faster..yes your age has a litlle to do with it, but for the same reason, at your age, one must not let cetain things go without seen a Dr...

so for just precaution, and for your health, do go to a Dr and have them check you out for this lenghty pain that you shouldnt go thru this long...

take care and hope you get better soon.

if you have torn it or damaged it a fair bit, it can take 2-3 months to heal properly, when you rest it. torn ligaments take up to 6 months to heal. I'd say give it pleanty of rest and leave it be, but if it is still giving you trouble after 6 months, go see a doctor about getting it seen to.
