toddler vomiting and diarrhea for 3 weeks!!

My 2 year old has been off and on vomiting and diarrhea for 3weeks now. I took him to his pediatrician and he said that there was nothing we could do but wash our hands.. My son seems normal most of the day, he plays and is generaly happy. He vomits almost every other night. Only at night. The diarrhea has been mostly constant green and very watery, sometimes its an orange and thick diarrhea. Im at a loss as to what to do. He drinks a little less than what is average for him and just picks at his food. He is very pale and sometimes has a fever. He sometimes goes a day without urinating. I asked to have his stool tested and the dr. said it wasnt worth it. ?!??!

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Please take a second opinion. If the toddler does not urinate for a whole day, then he is dehydrated and this will raise his body temperature too. It is very important to increase his fluid intake. Other than thatworms, lactose or gluten intolerance, or any other food intolerance could be the cause of vomiting.
Please consult another pediatrician for a second opinion.
Take care!

You definitley need to have a second opinion for your son.  It may just be a bad virus, but lasting so long and especially with him going a day without urinating, this could be very serious.  Lack of urination is a definite sign of dehdyration, which can be extremely serious.

I suggest you take him back to his pediatrician and INSIST upon testing/treatment, take him to another pediatrician, or at this point, I would even take him to the ER as he is exhibiting serious signs of dehydration.

I hope he feels better soon!

Hey, but it seems to me your little boy is very sick and this has been going on for 3wks thats not good if the dr. you took him to didnt do anything about it you need to carry him to another pediatrican because that one is doing nothing iam going school to become a medical assistance so yes i think you may need to have a second opinion it may just be a virus but it its best to go and get him check out.
