Vericose Veins 26 year old Male

Hi,
I'm a 26 year old male who suffers from vericose veins. I have had my left leg operated on 3 times now. They have done the stripping and have tied the the vein off. 2 times it has come back very quickly. I'm not sure if it will work longer the third time as I have jsut had in done last week. I first noticed a problem when i was 17. Just recently the right leg has started to develop noticeable veins in the back of the calf as well as the inside of the thigh. Not to bad yet though but is definitely getting worse. I also have noticed vericose veins in adomen. 2 veins, one coming up each side. They also seem to be growing slowly. I also have very prominent veins in my arms, hands and feet. My legs and feet get very soar when I stand still and I almost always need to put my feet up after walking. I am very healthy, active and not overweight. My mother had vericose veins but nothing to the extent that I do. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any suggestion on what else I could try to fix the problem? I am thinking about trying evlt laser treatment for the right leg to see if it is more successful than surgery. Has anyone with large vericose veins had evlt? Any other successful treatments?

Thanks for any input.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If you have multiple varicose veins, then the cause could be prolonged standing, faulty valves, family history, blood pressure and cholesterol problems, sedentary life style, congenital malformation of veins, and obesity. If any of the causes which can be controlled are detected then taking care of those causes can reduce the progression of varicose veins. Yes, laser is a good option however whether it is good for you or not can be judged by your vascular specialist only.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!

My veins are very prominent and I had some varicose and ventricular ones on my legs but not to the extent of yours.  They never stripped as I caught them early.  They did a doplar and then administered saline injections.  Once the ventricular veins had collapsed, they used laser for the smaller ones.  I go in every few years and have them laser veins that are beginning to show.  When My legs ache I wear those "peds" and elevate my feet at home...helps me.  My problem is different then yours but I thought I would reply since I had laser.  You are so young to have had 3 surgeries...surprised the doctors haven't addressed the issue of pulminary disease since this is due to poor circulation. Good luck!

it is commonly genetic which must be the cause in your case. yes you could try laser treatment or there is also a radiofrequency treatment i think its called, one uses a higher temperature then the other to close the vein. ask your doc about these, but the stripping and the 2 ablation therapies (laser and radio) are the only treatments really.
