To avoid or eliminate i dont think i said. One can eat all carbs but it has to be a controlled consumption in balance to veggies that are low carb and protain. So to be clear one should eat carbs daily but in the correct balance as i said. In the so called reward meal daily eat 1/3 carbs against 1/3 low carb veggies and 1/3 protain. Btw butter is not fattening as long as its pure butter.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the carrots, broccoli and fruit being fattening. Their carbs are the complex ones that are not digested, so help keep us feeling fuller, so we don't go scrounging for the chips!!  Before, you said to avoid them, now you're saying it's okay to eat them?

Potatoes can be fattening if eaten in too large quantities and particularly if eaten with gravy, butter, etc.  In moderation, the nutritional value outweighs the drawback.

Carrots, broccholi, potatoes and most fruit are high carb and therefore fattening. I agree how evere that they are nuitrious and good food. That is not the same though as good and nuitious food can also be fattening and therefore should be consumed in full balance to low carb veggies and protains.

You said: "Yes, look out for what you consume, any carbohydrate rich foods is very fattening, this includes but it not limited to: sugars, chocolate, bread (dark or white), pasta, rice, potatoes, fries, most sauces, carrots, broccoli, most fruits (avocado is ok though), all yogurts and other dairy products that have sugars added."

I was merely pointing out that carrots and broccoli, as well as most fruits are not fattening, because of the complex carbs/fiber, that fills you up, without promoting carb cravings.

I am in total agreement with you on other items that contain added sugar, starches, etc.  It's important to note, though, that potatoes are one of the best sources of potassium, there is......... a small baked potato with the skin has much more potassium than a banana; there should be room left in the diet to be able to enjoy nutrient rich foods.

Dairy is an excellent source of protein, vitamin B12, calcium, etc; most yogurts are in the same category, though one does have to be aware of "added" sugar.  Greek yogurt tends to have lower sugar than most others.

Dark chocolate is also very good for you, though milk chocolate should be avoided.  Aim for chocolate that's at least 70% cacao.

I looked at your sites.  Don't necessarily agree with everything they say, but that's okay; we're here for discussion.

I never said it should be eliminated. Should be consumed daily in the correct balance to vegetables that do not provoke carbo cravings and protein. It's easy to read about it on the sites I gave you.

I fully understand that it's about carbs.  My point is that there are 2 kinds of carbs and only the simple ones should be eliminated from the diet.

Carrots, broccoli and fruit are not fattening; most veggies have few to no calories, if they are steamed or grilled. They should NOT be avoided.  Bread and pasta made from whole grains are also very healthy.

There are 2 types of carbs:  simple carbs are those found in sugary foods, white breads and regular pasta, sodas, etc.  Simple carbs are broken down quickly and if not used right away for energy, will be stored as fat. These are the ones that should be avoided.

Complex carbs are those found in vegetables, most fruits and whole grains.  Complex carbs are the dietary fiber we need, to fill us up.  These take longer to break down and are not absorbed, as fat.  They not only fill us up, they keep us feeling fuller longer, plus they help keep our digestive processes working properly.

Carb low is: meat all kinds including fish, cheese, vegetables most of them.

Hi, do your friends know you're trying to lose weight? You could try asking them not to eat sweets and chocolate when you're around, or keep a healthy treat for yourself in your bag which you can have when they are eating, eg nuts or a piece of fruit. I know it's not the same as chocolate, but it might help you feel like you're not missing out.  What about getting them to join you in eating healthily, perhaps suggesting some healthy snacks you can all enjoy?

It's okay to indulge yourself occasionally, as long as you don't go overboard. I'm trying to lose weight myself and it's really hard to say no though!
