so no weight loss when i went to weigh in on friday. :-( the nurses told me to hang in there that it could take a few months before results....I asked them to talk to the dr monday (he wasnt in on friday) about uping my dosage and I'm thinking about seeing about a water pill too. I am so frustrated.....changed my diet ALOT!!! and NO results! I know I need to be patient and I will......just wanted to check in with all of you....ttyl
I lost a few pounds initially (recent weight gain), but my doctor had warned me it could take a few months to kick in, too. Don't give up, and keep up the healthy lifestyle. When the meds do kick it, it will be that much easier.
Okay so I am on my 5th pill today and still not feeling very well. It feels like my stomach is swimming. Anyone experience this? How much longer before I am not feeling like this?

I have lost 15lbs since taking metaformin, correctly, lol. Wih a change of diet too. I got a little nervous since my weight had not changed in 2 years. My doctor changed me to Glucovance , which had me on edge, I felt I could run all day. My BS was 77 and feeling very anxious. With small in between meals, I feel better. My weight loss was from from Mid January to mid February. I guess about 2-3 lbs per week. Metaformin does take awhile to adjust but its been a big help.
First of all, I'd like to say thank you to everyone that has shared their experiences with Metformin. Your comments and insight is so helpful and comforting.
I just started Metformin 3 days ago. At first I was on 500 mg. twice per day, now it's upped to 750 twice per day. The side effects I've experience are stomach upset (in the form of loose bowels) and shakiness along with fatigue. I've been lightheaded several times and "felt" as if I needed to eat something with sugar. Anyone else feel faint? I'm hopeful that these things will disappear over time. I will not give up. At this point I'm desperate for something that works.
My doctor prescribed Metformin for me because of insulin resistance. I am not Diabetic. I can't believe weight gain could ever happen to me. I've been very thin all my life till menopause reared it's ugly head. Now I'm very overweight and most of the weight I carry in my abdomen. I've tried diets with no success. The weight wouldn't budge. My former 23 1/2 inch waist has ballooned to a number I can't even contemplate.
Anyway, thanks for listening. Please add my name to any lists. I'll be checking in daily.
Thanks again for all the advice and personal stories. Best of luck and best of health to all!
