Sorry to disagree with you, but alcohol is not a food group; nor can many people maintain a 2000 calorie diet and lose weight. If I ate 2000 calories/day, I'd be too big to get into my house!!
I do agree that fat, protein and carbs are all important to a healthy diet; most foods will fit into one of those categories. Those categories can be broken down even further into the following: grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy, meat/beans, nuts, seeds and legumes. And you must be careful of the type of fats you get.
prichard16 - yes, the types of calories makes a difference. While I agree with caregiver222, that 1000 calories is 1000 calories; if you make that 1000 calories a mix of fruits, veggies, dairy, lean meats, nuts, etc --- you will be much healthier and more likely to lose weight than if you get that 1000 calories from 5 candy bars (200 calories/each) throughout the day........... there's a huge difference........
Don't forget to add in some exercise -- amount depending on the type of diet you choose.
Will be happy to help you with your needs, just let us know what you want to accomplish.
Varriety is trully the key. There are calories from 4 sources, carbohydrates, fat, protein, and alcohol. Fat, protein, and carbs all are important in moderation daily in order for your bpody to get what it needs. Fat has 9 calories, the others 4. As long as you meet your calorie level, usually about 2,000, with a moderation and varriety of food types and groups, that's what found to be healthiest for your body, and not just focusing one one calorie source
We are mixing apples and oranges.
A calorie is a measure of energy.
Different foods may be more or less difficult to digest, but 1000 calories is 1000 calories.
