My husband & I play a lot of video games too. ^_^ It can be hard to make yourself disconnect & get moving. Keep your snacks out of the room that your computer or console is in. If you really must snack, make it healthy. Try & drink a glass of water first before you snack. That will help fill you up a little bit so you won't eat as much. A food diary is really a great idea. Try it out even if you don't change what you eat right away. You might know you eat badly, but you don't really know just how bad until you keep track of it. If you are like my husband & drink a lot of soda, cut it back. You don't need to switch to diet, just drink less (1-2 a day is what he is at now). Try to take up cooking as hobby. Learning to make your own meals can be a lot of fun & learning to make them healthy can be even more fun. The grill is awesome! Try & find some form of exercise you like. It doesn't need to be something you think of as a traditional exercise. It can be kendo, swimming, the Wii, whatever. Just get up off your butt & get moving for a minimum of 30 min a day.
You should use the weight and exercise tracker and challenge yourself to use them. I use all of them and have noticed that it keeps me focused. I try to work out at least 4 times a week and keeping track will keep you on schedule. You can also use the food diary because when you have to write down what you have eaten and own it you are less likely to make bad choices. Best of Luck!!!
You obviously want to make some changes, or you wouldn't have posted here. That's the first step! Wanting to!
It's easy to "get stuck in a rut" in life. And really easy to get addicted to games. I know, I played a few, and the more I played, the more I wanted to!
Trouble is, while you're playing that poor body of yours is just sitting around.
If you try exercising, my bet is your muscles have become wasted, and so it will hurt.
Also, if you eat a lot, you will be accustomed to needing more food. Also that junk food I think contains addictive stuff.
There's only one answer. That's to do what you really want to do, and having the sheer dogged determination to see it through.
Why not try this for straters?
When you next order a burger and fries, don't eat the bun.....(yes, eat the fries, eat the meat, but leave the bun. Get a side order of coleslaw (which is basically raw carrot, cabbage, etc....ask if they've got low fat mayo) Have an apple if you still need extra food.
That's a start.
There are some really healthy changes you could make without having to starve yourself. If you're not used to eating fruit and vegetables, introduce them slowly to your diet, having them with some of the foods you like. Cut right back on chips, and chocolate etc. Find some other healthier snacks like unbuttered popcorn, or papaya chunks...etc
Next thing is....get that body moving! Yes it will hurt till your muscles build up strength again, and get used to it. Yes you'll sweat. Don't throw yourself into trying to do too much at once or you could hurt yourself. Just go for 1 hour long walk at first, every single day for 2 weeks. Then build up to more walking, or faster walking. Take it from there. Your mood will improve. Your strength will improve. You might not seem to lose much weight at first, but that's OK. Just keep going. Don't give up!
