Help with a chicken&veggie diet

Hello =] i am trying my best to change the way i eat and get exercise. Me and my husband have lost about 15lbs each and we have started exercising every day (or try to exercise everyday) we first started walking to the park but since the price of gas just keeps going up and up we bought some bikes to ride to the park and back to the house and since then we use our bikes about 3-5 times a week and we try to ride about 4 miles a day which equals about 1hrs of exercise a day which i think its pretty good since we didn't work out or exercise at ALL in about 3-4 years. What we really need to work on is eating healthy, we both love veggies and im really picky with types of meat so i only enjoy eating chicken breast and very lean red meats and fish. so im wondering if any of you know of a a veggie and chicken diet that we could start ASAP we would really appreciate it very much. Another reason why we both wanted to lose weight is because we have been together for 5 years now (im 22 and he is 21 high school sweethearts <3) we really want to start a family within a 1-2. and since we are both overweight we had been successful in getting pregnant but it only led in miscarriage and it really hurt me for a few months and to this day i still get sad because we would have been parents this July...

Any who, that was just a quick background for ya'll. so any help with a diet or tips what not to eat and things like that  will be most grateful =]

Thanks =]

I'm very sorry about your miscarriage.  That can be very devastating.

You might want to look into the Mediterranean Diet; that does focus on veggies, chicken, fish and some lean red meats (but not much); the book comes with a lot of recipes.  This diet uses a lot of spices/condiments to add variety to foods. Otherwise, just start surfing for recipes featuring those items; there are tons of them available.  Figure out how many calories each of you requires/day and go from there.

I might suggest that you have some blood work done, as well, if you haven't already.  Since you are overweight, you should be tested for thyroid condition, insulin resistance and PCOS, all of which can make conceiving/carrying a baby very difficult if not impossible.

As far as what not to eat -- stay away from foods made with refined sugar, flour or rice - basically "white" foods....... like candies, white bread, white rice, pasta, gravies etc.
