We all here for you and it is so great that you are changing your life around. I can't even begin to imagine how hard that was to do, but certainly is the right direction. Don't give up!

It sure does sound like a thyroid issue if eating healthier and excersing are not helping.

Please hang in there and know that we are here for you. This is a great group here!

I'm sure the meds you are on can make you feel like cr@p, but they may not be the cause of your problems.  You need to go back to your doctor and ask to get your thyroid tested.  Hypothyroidism can cause weight gain such as you are experiencing AND it can make you feel tired, depressed, etc.  I've been down that road, so trust me; I know it needs to be explored.

Feel free to send me a PM and I can tell you what tests you need to get, etc.

We are here, whenever you need us.

i have to let you all know that i dont really trust my docter nor any other i have to be on this medication and it makes me tired and depresses just about all of my existence. so im doing this on my own i weighed 120 and go to the dreaded doc every two months when i get on that scale i gain like another 10-12 pounds or at least this has been recently. i am now a freakin' 180 and i feel like crap. i had a very inactive winter living in new york and my boyfriend got a car. i then decided to get a memebership to the ymca and worked out everyday but the pounds kept going up instead of down. i cut out all the crap food sugar salt and all and the pounds still keep coming so i've decided this is the way i am right now and i'm going to try to love me the way i am . i have never had to count the pounds and i hate it. i'm sure it will come down eventually but its killing me inside having to deal with the fact that im no longer a spring chicken and i starved myself for so many of those years. i dont know i just thtnk you all for your support but i am partially giving up on dieting because it makes me want to die!

*hugs* Yeah the scale can be no fun sometimes, but don't let it get you down. You rock for quiting & don't let yourself think otherwise.

Okay - Heroin & speed are both famous for making you lose weight, but in a totally unhealthy way. You don't eat properly & the drugs mess you up. So you cannot use your drug weight as a baseline for what is healthy for you. Weight gain, even a lot of weight, is normal for most people coming off narcotics addiction. A lot of this is because you have not had any sort of healthy eating habits for a really long time & it takes effort to form these. Everyone on this forum understands that one! Some people also develop a food addiction to replace the drug addiction or switch to other drugs such as caffiene. If you feel in a any way that you have changed addictions let your doc know. ^_^ But either way, be patient hon. You are on a rough ride & you are not alone!

Try out the trackers here on medhelp; especially the food diary, water consumption tracker, & exercise. Keeping your weight in control is a combination of those three aspects of life. Don't starve yourself & drink lots of water & remember that you are awesome.

Can you give us a bit more info?  What's your current weight? Height? Activity level?  Maybe you don't really need to lose weight; it's possible that the right kind of exercise will help tone you.

I can't answer about your drug maintenance program because I don't know what it involves.

Just remember, we are here and will help in any way we can.

Hi there, just read your msg. At first, I thought perhaps you had decided you were overweight using BMI. First, I think you need to stop that drug maintenance program, sorry to say but it never works, may be for a handful of people.
Now reading further, I feel strongly that you dwell so much about what you hear people say.
There's definitely a sure fact, and that is one is never content with what features they have. I must tell you one thing, you are not going to do much good to yourself if you don't start loving the way you are. The moment you make an individual that perfect model, and you always aim to be like that person, you will always be the second best. And i believe strongly that you got potentials in you.
Sit and reflect on your past experiences, and dwell on the good ones you have had to keep you going.
Don't hesitate to follow your heart's dictates.
Love yourself, love others in return with the hope of being loved back. ALWAYS start each day with confidence, teeling yourself that you can make it, and you definitely will pass through some "valleys" where you seem lost, there you need a very good friend who's got listening ears.
Don't forget the God factor.
And finally, take very good care of yourself, don't eat so much of junk, fast foods, not only do they contribute to weight gain, they contain so much of free radicals in them that tend to destroy healthy tissues, and exposing you to cancers and the rest.Eat healthy, and STAY COOL.
