I need that life changing moment ...

I am so fortunate that I like almost everything edible!  I eat too much.  I eat at night. I eat for reasons other than hunger.  I need that life changing moment when you DECIDE to actually do something about the weight and COMMIT to sticking to it.  When I was in my 30's, I went to a bodybuilding gym 4-6 times per week.  I walked or jogged every morning.  I was in the best shape of my life.  Why can't I get into that mindset again?  It is so illogical and irrational.  I know "diets don't work,"  I've tried them all!  I am afflicted with some health problems now, some of which would be much better if I lost 50 pounds and exercised.  Maybe some of you can help me get started....
Thanks for being there,
Mary Kay

Let me just say that my husband lost about 60-65 pounds, and no longer has type2 diabetes, nor does he have to take his BP meds any longer.

Weight plays such a major role in our bodies and how we feel.   Really think about this whole issue, and give things an honest try.

I'm so enthusiastic about WW b/c its an extremely healthy diet, easy to follow, plenty of support and encouragement even if you do it online, and no weird foods or medicines to take.
Its the only thing that I've ever been able to stick to for a long period of time.

Whatever you do, think about your reasons, and start on your getting healthy plan, for you.

Thank you so much for sharing your enthusiasm.  I am in the process of trying to find out why I have some neurlogical symptoms (info in my journal) but there is no reason why I can't do some exercise everyday.  I think my eating is pretty good, just too much and for the wrong reasons.  Rather than Weight Watchers'  I think I actually need to research more about avoiding Diabetes since my blood sugar runs too high....What you said about doing it for yourself...that's huge.  I am single, but I do cook for people and am way too concerned about what they might want.  I am going to process this...I will write tomorrow.  I am going to the Jersey Shore for a vacation in about 6 weeks.  That's another good reason to start now!
Thanks again,
Mary Kay

I've been on plenty of diets.  I've yo-yo'd for many years, but really packed on the pounds in the past 4 years, I'd say.

For various health reasons, I decided last Sept to begin MY year.  The year that I'd work on myself, would spend money on myself, and would put myself and my needs first, for once.  The year of me.

I joined Weight Watchers (and I'm not a joiner, so this was a huge deal for me), and joined a gym.   Lots of people have the desire to lose weight, but as you say...its not until you make the DECISION to get your life and act together that it will happen for you.  I had to do it for me, and no one else.
I still have a tough time motivating myself to go to the gym, even though I really do enjoy it. Its just...easier to sit on my butt at the house, I suppose.   But I do it.

Come on!  Make that decision.  I lost 45 pounds or so, and you can, too.  I eat normal, everyday foods.  I can go out to eat.  You can learn what to eat, and much more importantly, WHY you should eat.
