Hi Angie,
i just want to say...you can do it! the fact that you are young and you have set this goal for yourself is awesome. My best advice would be to cut down on the carbs in your diet. You will lose the weight faster if our cut out the breads and pastas and eat carbs from veggies and brown rice. Best of luck to you.

My mistake... I typed 9 pounds/week, when I meant month... It's still very difficult to do that, unless one is extremely focused and has no setbacks.

On the up side, is your age. I was weighing about that at your age but never did nothing add weighing the same at 32 its a but harder to drop the pounds. Stay focused and motivated even on bad days because tomorrow comes fast! It's not an unreasonable goal, I have done 114 in about 9-10 months. Your do not need to average 9lbs a month not a week I saw on a prior post, which is fairly easy at your age if you do 40 minutes of cardio 6 days a week and maintain a diet of 1400-1500 calories. If you truly put your mind to it and have minimal setbacks I think you'd be there before your desired time frame :) Hope this helps and Good Luck!!

You need to calculate your calorie needs, based on your current weight, height, age and activity level.  If you cut calories too much, you won't lose weight either.  If you implement the food diary, it will tell you how many calories you need each day just to fuel the body functions that are involuntary, such as heart rate, kidney, brain and other functions, etc.  Once you have that figure, you will need to subtract about 500 calories from that, in order to lose a pound a week (1 pound = 3500 calories / 7 days/week = 500 calories/day).  Another way is to subtract 250 calories/day and use up an extra 250 calories through exercise.

You should talk to your parents or whoever buys the food and ask them to make sure there's plenty of fresh/frozen veggies and fruit on hand, along with lean protein, low fat dairy, etc.

Losing 50 pounds in 6 months means you would have to lose almost 9  pounds/week, which is very difficult to do safely.  Safe weight loss is considered 1-2 pounds/week.  If you were to lose 1 lb/week, it would take 50 weeks or almost a year.

i believe you should take more time to lose that much weight.start slow then pick up habit and then keep up the pace.drink lots of fluids and no to every junk food...consult a dietician i would say because it may help you to keep the pace and lose weight.

hey angie, the biggest piece of advice i can give you is to use two of this websites trackers, the first being the food journal and the second being the water consumption tracker.

they are easy to use and they work. for example with the food journal you can really see exactly what you are eating and what it consists of. it gives you basic little goals on what amounts calories ( and other components) that you should get daily and over time you can modify what you eat and how much of it.

i just started this a couple days ago and i already lost over 2lbs just by braking down what i have eaten. i have done minimal exercise and i still ate icecream last night and a slice of pizza (real pizza) today.
