Not enough calories?

Hi all,

I'm a 5'9" 23 year old female and I currently weigh 135.8 pounds. I started taking adipex 37.5 about 3 weeks ago. Along with a very strict  low-fat hight protein diet and work out regiment I've only lost about 5 pounds. I'm having trouble consuming at least 1,000 calories a day. I know I am supposed to consume 1,200. I've suddenly plateaud in my weight loss- but at the same time I'm only consuming close to 600 calories on a good day. Do you think this is because I'm not consuming enough calories? Thanks for any advice!

Wow, was this prescribed by your family physician who has known you for a long time?  Your BMI is well within the low normal range.  I'm shocked you were prescribed this just three weeks ago.

To answer your question, I agree with Barb, you need to consume at the very least, 1200 cals/day.  Your BMR requires roughly 1400 cals before you wake up, so to lose weight, that amount alone will do it.

At 5'9" and 135.8 pounds, you are not overweight, by any means.  According to standard height/weight charts, a female of your height should weigh between 129 and 170, depending on your frame size.

The fact that you aren't losing weight, could indicate that your body is trying to protect itself, by slowing metabolism.
