Weight Watchers Vs. Curves

I've never used either, but have been considering using either Weight Watchers or Curves to help me get motivated to lose weight.  I recently moved to Richmond, VA and feel that I could use one of the programs to help me meet others that can help encourage me.  My husband is fantastic, but he has never had weight issues, and although I'm surrounded by family none of them are overweight.  So any comments on the two programs, how they work, the price, your experience, would be very helpful!  Thank you!

I have used WW and was extremely successful.  I am a lifetime member.  I lost 65 pounds after the birth of my first son and then 90 pounds after the birth of my twins.  I have slowly gained 30 pounds back and am getting back on track.  The nice thing about WW is that there aren't any foods that you can't have.  Everything has a points balance based upon fat, calories, and fiber.  It might take a bit of time getting used to figuring out the points for food that you eat but it is not unmanageable.  Also, a big thing is portion control.
You have three options on using the WW program.  1 - you can do it online (www.weightwatchers.com) 2- you can attend meetings 3 - you can do online and meetings.  it all depends on what will work best for you.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask!

I'm not that familiar with Weight Watchers because I never used it.  I did belong to Curves for a while but it didn't work out for me.

The cost for Curves was about $30/mo.  The work out is great.  The problem *I* had is that they closed for a 2 hr lunch from 1:00 - 3:00 and I needed to stop on my way home from work at 2:30, which meant that I had to sit and wait for 30 min before I could get in to do my work out.  At that time, I was not well - had undiagnosed hypothyroidism - so I was exceptionally tired and just wasn't able to sit there and twiddle my thumbs, waiting for them to reopen.  Then to top it off, the people who were running it were NOT the most prompt, so one day, they didn't even come back from lunch until almost 3:15 - that meant 45 minutes to wait.  Then as if THAT weren't hard enough to deal with, they kept moving - I don't even KNOW where THAT franchise is located now.

I did find out, however, that the 2 hr lunch thing must be a nationwide thing as I have a friend who joined in another state and they do the same thing.  The thing is, this friend doesn't work so it's no big deal for her to schedule around that time frame.  If *I* didn't have to work, I'd prefer to work out first thing in the morning which would give me energy to keep going throughout the day.........

Just remember - I said the Curves work out is great.  The other experiences I had were simply with the one franchise and I'm sure most of them are NOT like that.

I think basically, BOTH Weight Watchers and Curves are great programs, but you are going to find some that will not treat people right or operate in a business like manner.
