I've been on my journey now for approx 2 1/2 years and have shed 5 stone (70 pounds) approximately. I didn't change my diet to begin with and was regularly eating take-aways, fatty foods etc and the weight fell off me because I was excerising hard 5/6 times a week. But my body hit a wall where it was no longer able to continue the weight loss without me changing my diet. Echoing rcsexton's post above, it's best to change your diet instantly (if possible) to see the results faster. And it helps to log everything you eat, to the last calorie where possible. I gave up all soda including diet. Instead of starchy pastas and potatoes. I now eat non starchy vegetables, lean protein and lowerfat dairy. Also I started small on exercising. 5 minutes a day has now turned into 2 hours three to four times a week. U can do this. I started at 322 pounds I am now down to 306 as of this morning. All of this lost in a 6 weeks.
Decrease food intake and increase exercise.
Eat lots of veggies and lean protein and make sure you get at least 30 minu exercise/day.
