Be aware the people with some medical conditions can not tolerate a high fat diet. Most food groups are best in moderation, with the exception of sugar, which should be avoided.

Agree what others said about setting realistic goals.  Maybe one or two pounds per week.  Weight usually drops fast at the beginning (and sometimes it's not fat, but glycogen stores or water loss), and then it reduces with time.  Slow and steady wins the race.

Here is what I wrote as recommendation for someone else asking similar question:

The way I won the battle was to eat in a way that does not make my blood sugar spike, and which would also keep my insulin secretion controlled as well.  The eating plan us calked LCHF, which is low fat, moderate protein and high fat.  And there are no gimmicks, pills, powders, bars, etc...just real food.  Best part is that no calorie counting, eat until full.  Also, it canceled my cravings and I no longer snack anymore.  I also need to remind myself to eat, as I'm not hungry anymore (I used to be ravenous all day long).

Basic meal is VEGETABLE + PROTEIN (meat, fish, eggs) + FAT.  Example is egg omelette with bacon and asparagus.  Another is broccoli sautéed in butter with steak.  Another is large salad with olive oil and roasted chicken thigh with skin on.  Google LCHF and you will see a whole bunch of doctors and nutritionists with tons of meals and recipes (simple and inexpensive).  Try it for a week and you will see the weight loss happen and food cravings reduce, as this style of eating keeps your blood sugar stable all day long and trains your body to burn fat in absence of insulin secretion.

So, LCHF works for me...I love it!  I hope the best in your life whatever you chose to do.  Good luck and be well.

I agree that you have to be realistic.  Safe weight loss is, typically, 1-2 lbs/week.  Plan to give yourself a deficit of 500 calories/day (eat 250 calories less and work off 250 calories more), you'll lose 1 pound a week (500 calories/day X 7 days = 3500 week - 1 pound).

My Fitness Pal is a good app, however, we do have our own app, here on MedHelp to track your food, calories, exercise, etc so give it a try, also.

Adult women should not go below 1200 calories/day.

How much weight do you want to lose? You have to realize that you need to burn 3500 calories to lose just one pound. For my weight and height, I need about 1800 calories to maintain my weight. By eating 1000 calories a day, I am at a deficit of 800. That's a little more than 4 days to lose 1 pound. It's all about math. Eat healthy to get the nutrients you need, count your calories, and exercise. If you don't have it already, try the my fitness pal app; it's wonderful! Good luck!

Be realistic. That's a lot of weight in a very short time. Healthy keep it off weight loss is about one to two pounds a week. Exercise at least three days a week or better yet weight lift every other day and walk or ruin every other day then on the seventh day rest and east something you craved all week. Watch your calories not your fat or carb intake. Most of all stay vigilant in your personal challenge. Good luck
