Does any one have any information on the Medifast Weight Loss Program

help443 - I was on Medifast a long time ago when they offered only liquid meal replacements and that program is not one I could recommend.  It was not realistic in sustaining a life-long weight loss program and it was dangerous and had to be monitored by a physician with constant bloodwork to watch your electrolytes.  If your electrolytes get out of balance, you can be in imminent danger.

The new Medifast program, I believe, has meals and I am not familiar with it. It is something I would research greatly before beginning.

Personally, I elected to count calories, eat a balanced diet and implement moderate exercise knowing this is the way I would need to sustain my myself for a lifetime.  It, along with our support community, is what made the difference.  Hope you will consider joining us here where we do the personal work to make these changes in a team atmosphere of support, information, encouragement and motivation.

Hayes714 - As for a plateau, they can be difficult and frustrating.  They are, however, part of the cycle of weight loss.  Here's some information I posted in my journal.  http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/40803  I'll be making a Health Page soon regarding this.  Hope this helps and looking forward to hearing how you're doing.

Ms Lucinda - Thank you for the excellent advice!

Very best wishes ..

help443:  I'm sorry, but I am not at all familiar with Medifast myself.  Perhaps they have a website detailing more about their program that you could use to research on this.  There may be other members at well that know about this program that will be joining us a bit later as well.

Hayes714:  Ah, the beloved plateau.  I get past those by increasing my exercise efforts and by tweaking my calories a bit.  If your calories are too restrictive, might be sending you into 'starvation' mode.  Sometimes it is good to vary the number of calories a bit so that your system doesn't know what is coming exactly and this can be a good way to move out of a plateau as well.  For instance, given my weight and height, as well as activity level....I could one day do 1500, the next 1450, the next 1550, and switching around in that type of manner to always keep things moving.  These are just examples though...as I am not familiar with your current calorie intake, activity level, height and weight, etc.
